Education and Player Development
The Raleigh Bridge Club is committed to developing its players. From bridge lessons to pre-game lectures, mentoring programs, private lessons, and the learning that takes place at the table, the RBC wants to help you grow your game. Programs under way include:
Bridge Lessons Learn bridge with lessons and prepared hands from Audrey Grant's Better Bridge series. Hosted by ACBL-Certified Teacher Karen Copeland, one of the areas's leading players and teachers. Email Karen for more information.
Pre-Game Lectures Enjoy free pre-game lectures at 6:45 PM before every game. See the RBC calendar for a schedule of speakers and topics. The RBC offers the following unique pre-game lecture series.
 

  • Learn with Lance  Work on the finer points of your game with ACBL-Certified Teacher Lance Shull in pre-game lectures geared toward the up and coming duplicate player.  Discuss recent hands, enhance your bidding toolkit, learn competitive strategy, and more.

  • Bridge with the Stars  Learn the secrets of success from the RBC’s star players.  Enjoy pre-game lectures by RBC members Al Bender, Matthew Frame, Greg Gault, Kay Joyce, Randy Joyce, Sue Reeve, Bruce Reeve, Malcolm Smith, and more.  A series you won’t find anywhere else!

  • Bridge with Jack  Learn popular bridge conventions and sharpen up your defensive game with these informative sessions led by ACBL-Certified Teacher Jack Whetstone.

  • Marty’s Master tips   Focus on improving your bidding with these in-depth lessons by Marty Demko.
 
Mentoring Program
The mentoring program pairs interested players with supportive mentors. Mentoring pairs play 8 times a year on 5th Tuesdays and 5th Thursdays (or on makeup dates). A great way to get inside the heads of experienced players..

In addition, we encourage you to ask questions of our players. There is a wealth of knowledge available at every RBC game!
